TAKE ACTION ON BALLOT PROPOSALS

There are 13 different ballot proposal petitions circulating. While some of these are worthwhile proposals that support progressive rights for Michiganders, at least 5 of these are regressive proposals designed specifically to be adopted by the Republican legislature with no option for Governor Whitmer’s veto. If this happens, you will NOT see them on your ballot and the will of a small minority of Michigan voters who signed the petition will become law.
So, what should you look for?

- “Amend the state constitution” which means it will be on the November ballot
- “Initiation of legislation” can become law without Michiganders voting. READ THESE CAREFULLY! If you don’t have time, decline to sign.

- nine (9) days of early in-person voting
- military or overseas ballots be counted if postmarked by election day
- a single application to vote absentee in all elections
- state-funded postage for absentee applications and ballots and drop boxes
- ONLY election officials may conduct post-election audits and canvas boards to certify election based only on the official records of votes cast
Constitutional amendment to:
- establish a new individual right to reproductive freedom
- prohibit prosecution of an individual from helping a pregnant individual exercise their rights
- invalidate all state laws that conflict with this amendment
- allow the state to prohibit abortion after fetal viability unless needed to protect a patient’s life or physical or mental health
