"Dana has a proven track record of working tirelessly to protect workers' rights, standing up for our Great Lakes, and fighting for marriage equality, which is why Michiganders need her as our next Attorney General," said Robert Joerg, Calhoun Dems Executive Board Member and President of the Michigan Federation of College Democrats.
At the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, Dana Nessel received forensic training in child interview techniques, has prosecuted child sexual and abuse cases, internet crimes, and shaken-baby cases. She has also prosecuted felony assaults, criminal sexual conduct cases, and gang related crimes.
She is recognized as one of the premier litigators of LGBTQ issues in Michigan. She successfully petitioned, defended, and acquired exoneration for scores of defendants wrongly targeted for prosecution based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
Nessel has received numerous awards for her civil rights initiatives. A graduate of the University of Michigan and Wayne State University Law School with nearly 25 years of legal experience, Dana Nessel is renowned as a staunch defender of constitutional rights.
